Sightseeing in Düsseldorf and Neuss

architecture duesseldorfTravel tips Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf has a rich repertoire of attractions. The beautiful old part of town and its countless museums are perfect for shopping and strolling about. Along the "Kö" (shopping boulevard Königsallee), you can enjoy the city's flair and visit luxury stores. The city also offers a huge number of restaurants, discos and bars. Yet also a simple walk through the narrow alleys or a quick tour along the banks of the Rhine are a worthwhile experience. Visitors can also enjoy the castle centre with its old tower and the riverbank promenade all year long. The office for cultural activities is a must for anyone interested in experiencing the arts of Düsseldorf society. Here you will receive the best tips in town and a list of all events happening during your stay. The luscious Grafenberg forest surrounds a wildlife park with roughly 100 animals. This is an excellent destination, especially when visiting Düsseldorf as a family.

Culture in Düsseldorf

In terms of culture, you can visit the house of poet Heinrich Heine's birth, located in the historic part of the city. The Königsallee, called Kö in short, is a particularly glamorous destination and is characterised by countless snug bars and cafés and is the perfect destination for a comfortable stroll through the boutiques. 2000 years worth of maritime history are exhibited in the centre of the remaining parts of Düsseldorf's castle. The art collections K20 and K21 display works from famous artists, including Picasso. Anyone hungry for culture will not be disappointed in Düsseldorf.

The main attraction of this Rhein city is the shopping boulevard Königsallee, which is known far beyond the borders of the city, or even the country.

But also the old part of Düsseldorf is well worth a visit. Here you will find numerous historic taverns and buildings including the art collection North Rhine-Westphalia and the birthplace of famous poet Heinrich Heine.

Then there are also the Düsseldorf theatre house, the opera house Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Goethe Museum. Another event Düsseldorf has become known for is the carnival, which sees a colourful medley of people fill the streets for a few days each year.

There are sheer endless possibilities for you to enjoy Düsseldorf's nightlife: a huge variety of bars, hip lounges and the most modern clubs – in Düsseldorf, everybody can find the right place to spend a good evening. The party mile Ratinger Straße can offer you a classic, modern, hip or young experience. Whoever wants to spend the night awake in Düsseldorf is bound to have a fun and memorable experience.

Fashion paradise Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf is internationally renowned for its fashion street, the Königsallee – locally called Kö – which is also the most expensive shopping avenue in Europe. The city is characterised by a high density of glamorous and world class design stores and shopping arcades. But also in the more remote areas of Düsseldorf, you will find a variety of precious little gems: hip boutiques in the old part of town, modern shopping malls or the Asia market around the corner. Düsseldorf is deemed the best shopping destination in the whole of Germany.
